Description
Discovery India: the allure of an ancient world in just seven days
This itinerary is an ideal gateway to India at its most iconic, where the allure of Mughal art meets the regal splendour of the Maharajas. The choice of stops – Jaipur, Agra and Delhi – makes it possible to explore three cities that differ profoundly in character, style and atmosphere, yet complement one another perfectly. In Jaipur, the Pink City, you discover a living, artisan India, full of urban geometry and fairy-tale palaces. In Agra you come face to face with the heart-rending delicacy of the Taj Mahal, a work that goes beyond stone to tell a timeless love story. Finally, Delhi offers an urban mosaic in which spirituality, politics and history blend effortlessly. Impeccable organisation, the presence of the tour leader, accommodation in excellent hotels and small groups make the journey enjoyable and engaging, even for those encountering such a complex country for the first time. It is an intense tour, but never frantic, capable of conveying an authentic impression of India, with the added value of attentive, passionate storytelling by the local guides.
Sacred geometry, the wonder of human hands: a journey into Indian aesthetics
The India revealed by this itinerary is first and foremost a journey into the architectural imagination of a country that has always known how to turn stone and space into an expression of the sacred, of power and of beauty. It begins with the delicate forms of Amber Fort, where the austerity of its military purpose intertwines with the refinement of its courtly decoration. In Jaipur, the urban layout inspired by the stars and the crafts is striking, while in Fatehpur Sikri you walk through a perfectly preserved ghost city, testimony to an imperial utopia abruptly cut short. But it is in Agra that the heart stands still before the Taj Mahal, an absolute masterpiece not only of Islamic architecture in India but of world art: harmony, proportion and symbolism coexist in every detail. Delhi, finally, offers a living gallery of Indian religious and civil architecture, among Sikh temples, mosques, mausoleums and memorials. Those with a keen eye for aesthetics, materials and the relationship between people and landscape will find in this journey a fascinating thread running through domes, gardens, minarets and suspended silences.

This sentence sums up the meaning of the whole building, through which Emperor Shah Jahan sought to immortalise his love for his beloved Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal is symbolically described as the meeting of the divine and the human, and rises in all its beauty at the centre of geometric gardens – the chaharbagh – adorned with water channels that mirror its four minarets and great white dome – in the afternoon, visit to Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home of the Mughal Emperors, also known as the Red Fort, one of the principal symbols of Mughal architecture - The Lal Qila was built by Emperor Akbar from 1565 onwards, with high fortified walls, on the banks of the sacred Yamuna river - The palaces open to visitors today are the work of Emperors Jahangir and Shah Jahan and bear witness to the ancient splendour and wealth that characterised life at the Mughal court - lunch at leisure – dinner at the hotel – evening at leisure – tour leader on hand – overnight stay.
