Documents for travel
Madagascar
Passport: required, valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into the country. As this rule may change, we advise checking in advance with the country's Embassy or Consulate in Italy or with your travel agent.
Should your passport be lost or stolen, an emergency travel document (ETD) valid only for the return journey to Italy may be issued by the Consulate General of France in Antananarivo; anyone needing to apply for one should first contact the consular correspondent in Antananarivo or the one in Nosy Be for the application procedure.
Entry visa: required, for tourism or business, for stays of up to 90 days in the country. The visa is issued directly at the airport on entry into the country, on payment of the fee set by local regulations. For tourist visas of up to 60 days only (extendable to 90), you can apply online through the website https://evisamada-mg.com/en/. Payment cannot, however, be processed online and must be made at the airport in euros, dollars or ariary.
Always check that your passport has at least one blank page, free of stamps or annotations, in the section reserved for entry visas, so that the temporary residence permit sticker can be affixed on arrival in the country.
In all cases you must hold a return air ticket.
