Description
A journey into the essence of the most authentic Japan.
This itinerary is an invitation to discover the many-sided soul of Japan, a country where modernity is harmoniously interwoven with tradition. Starting from dynamic Tokyo, the city that symbolises technological innovation and frenetic life, the tour winds its way through iconic places and unforgettable views. After exploring Shinjuku and its skyscrapers, travellers head for Fujiyoshida, at the foot of Mount Fuji, where the Arakurayama Sengen Park and the Chureito Pagoda offer a spectacular view of the sacred mountain. The adventure continues in Matsumoto, with a visit to its original castle, one of the few to have survived intact through the centuries. Next comes Takayama, a town known for its farmers' market, where you can discover the freshness of local produce, and Shirakawago, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with its characteristic thatched-roof houses. In Kanazawa you lose yourself in the Kenrokuen Garden, a natural work of art considered one of the three most beautiful gardens in Japan, and in the samurai district, which offers a unique glimpse of feudal Japan. In Kyoto and Nara, two of the country's historic capitals, shrines, temples and traditional quarters enchant travellers: from the Fushimi Inari Shrine with its iconic vermilion torii to Nara Park, home to gentle deer, and the Arashiyama bamboo forest, a magical place immersed in nature. Finally, the tour brings you to Hakone, where a cruise on Lake Ashi at the foot of Mount Fuji brings the experience to a close against a majestic backdrop. This itinerary offers an unforgettable journey embracing every nuance of an extraordinary country, between culture, nature and breathtaking scenery.
The Ryokan Experience
This tour invites you to discover the most authentic Japan, the one rooted in a past of refined traditions and old-world hospitality. The ryokan experience is one of the most precious and distinctive aspects of this itinerary: here the traveller is not merely a guest but part of an ancient culture that turns hospitality into an art.
The stay in a ryokan in Hakone offers complete immersion in traditional Japan. Travellers are welcomed by simple, elegant surroundings, tatami rooms, futon beds and onsen hot-spring baths, perfect for relaxing and surrendering to the silence after a day of sightseeing. Every detail, from the kimonos provided for guests to the kaiseki cuisine served at dinner, is attended to with a care that can only be found in Japan. This itinerary, alternating visits to vibrant cities such as Tokyo and Kyoto with genuine experiences in small towns and rural landscapes, lets you experience Japan from every angle. But it is precisely during the night in a ryokan that the traveller can grasp the essence of a culture that celebrates calm, harmony and a deep connection with nature and spirituality. An experience that enriches the journey with intimate, indelible emotions, for those seeking genuine contact with the soul of Japan.
