Description
A Journey Through the Essence of Sardinia. "Tasting Sardinia" is not just a trip but a multisensory journey embracing the island's art, history, nature and, above all, its rich food and wine heritage. Every stop is a precious piece of a mosaic that reveals Sardinia's authentic identity. The journey begins in Alghero, nicknamed “little Barcelona” for its Catalan influences. Its historic fortifications, the Church of San Francesco and the Cathedral of Santa Maria introduce the visitor to a past steeped in history. The itinerary continues with an exploration of Stintino and its crystal-clear waters, offering a first taste of the bond between culture and nature that defines the island. Among the highlights are the visit to Bosa, an enchanting village mirrored in the waters of the River Temo, and to Cabras, where a tasting of bottarga becomes a cultural as well as a culinary experience. The ruins of Tharros, on the Sinis peninsula, tell of the greatness of the civilisations that once inhabited the island, while the villages of Gallura, such as Tempio Pausania and Aggius, show the region's most authentic, artisan face. Nor is there any shortage of unforgettable experiences, such as the crossing to the Maddalena Archipelago, with the island of Caprera and the museum dedicated to Garibaldi, and the scenic tour of the Costa Smeralda, between Porto Cervo and Cala di Volpe. Each day is enriched by tastings that celebrate the island's flavours: from wines such as Cannonau and Malvasia to local products such as cheese and cured meats. This itinerary stands out for its balance between cultural moments and relaxing pauses, ideal for those who wish to discover Sardinia in all its complexity. A unique proposal for immersing yourself in a land that knows how to surprise with its beauty and welcome with its authenticity.
Barbagia, the Ancestral Heart of Sardinia. The third day of the "Tasting Sardinia" tour is an immersion in the deepest, most authentic soul of the island: Barbagia, a rugged, proud land that preserves its age-old traditions intact. The itinerary starts in Nuoro, birthplace of Grazia Deledda, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, whose spirit lingers in the rooms of the Ethnographic Museum and in the little Church of the Solitude, where she rests. Every corner of this town speaks of culture and resistance, an ode to the tenacity of the people of Barbagia. In Mamoiada, the allure of the ancient Mamuthones and Issohadores masks reveals the deep bond between folklore and identity. The visit to the Museum of Masks is not merely an informative stop but an emotional journey into the roots of a community that has made its history a symbol. A tasting of Cannonau, a robust and generous wine, is the perfect companion to the telling of these traditions. The next stop is Orgosolo, a village that presents itself as an open-air art gallery. The murals decorating its streets are not simply works of art but manifestos of a struggle for justice, freedom and self-determination. Strolling through its streets means immersing yourself in a dialogue between past and present, between art and society. The journey ends in Oliena, where the flavours of Barbagia come to life in a tasting of local products: cured meats, cheeses and sweets that tell of a land's passion and devotion to its traditions. This day represents the heart of the tour, a unique opportunity to discover a lesser-known but profoundly authentic side of Sardinia. Barbagia reveals itself not merely as a destination but as an experience that stays in the hearts of those privileged enough to live it.
