Grand Tour of Malaysia 2026-27

Departure on Emirates/Turkish Airlines scheduled flights to Kuala Lumpur - meals on board – overnight flight.

Arrival in Kuala Lumpur – transfer to the hotel – day at leisure to rest and relax - dinner at the hotel – in the evening, street-food tour with the tour leader at one of the city’s night markets – overnight stay.

Breakfast at the hotel - full day devoted to a guided tour of the city; amid the heavy traffic of Kuala Lumpur, the best way to discover the old quarter is by train and on foot - the tour begins with a visit to the Jamek Mosque, the city’s oldest national mosque, colonial-style Independence Square, the Central Market, the Sin Sze Si Ya Temple, the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple, Little India, Chinatown and the modern Petronas Twin Towers, completed in 1996 and now the symbol of the city - interior visit - lunch in a restaurant - dinner at a typical restaurant -  overnight stay.

Breakfast at the hotel – departure for the Batu Caves (these limestone caves house a Hindu temple, reached via a brightly coloured staircase of 272 steps - at their base stands the 43-metre golden statue of Lord Murugan, God of War and Victory (to climb the staircase you must wear clothing that covers your shoulders and knees, out of respect for the Hindu faith  - we also advise you to keep an eye on the endearing but mischievous macaques in the area and to tuck easily snatched items away in your bags or rucksacks) - after the visit, departure for the Cameron Highlands (journey time approximately 3.5 hours) – stopping en route at the Iskandar Waterfall and at a small Orang Asli village, home to one of Malaysia’s indigenous tribes -  lunch in a restaurant - the rainforest of the Cameron Highlands lies on Malaysia’s largest mountain range, the Titiwangsa Range, estimated to be over 130 million years old – the name Cameron Highlands comes from the first surveyor to map the area, in 1885, Sir William Cameron - thanks to its particularly mild climate and pleasant temperatures, the area was later found to be ideally suited to growing a great many varieties of flowers and vegetables, strawberries and tea, and from the 1920s onwards vast tea plantations sprang up and spread rapidly – it is on this land that Malaysia’s most famous tea, ‘BOH’ tea, is produced - dinner at the hotel - evening at leisure -tour leader available - overnight stay.

Breakfast at the hotel – departure to visit a tea plantation and see how the tea is processed - continue north to Ipoh (journey time approximately 2 hours) –  lunch in a restaurant – in the afternoon, set off along the Ipoh Heritage Trail with a guide (Ipoh, the capital of the state of Perak, was once a very wealthy city thanks to the tin mined along the banks of the Kinta River and to its rubber plantations - the colonial “Taj Mahal of Ipoh”, Ipoh Town Hall, the Ipoh High Court, the Birch Memorial Clock Tower with the old commercial district and its historic shops, Concubine Lane and, finally, the beauty of nature blended with buildings and cave temples such as Sam Poh Tong and Kek Lok Tong) – dinner at the hotel/restaurant - evening at leisure - tour leader available - overnight stay.

Breakfast at the hotel – departure for Bukit Merah (journey time approximately 1 hour) – arrival at the small jetty and boat transfer to the Orangutan Centre (the centre aims to help preserve this species by caring for and protecting endangered orangutans that are sick or were born in captivity, with the ultimate goal of returning them to their natural habitat, the jungle - the animals roam in semi-freedom, and how many you see depends entirely on them and on your luck) – after the visit, continue to the Belum Rainforest (journey time approximately 2.5 hours) - the resort stands on the artificial island of Pulau Banding, created in the 1960s and 1970s within Temenggor Lake, which is part of Belum Park, itself part of the even larger Belum-Temenggor Forest Complex stretching all the way to Thailand - it became a protected national park in 2003 (its rainforest is over 130 million years old and is considered one of the oldest in the world - fourteen of the world’s most endangered mammals roam free here, including the Malayan tiger, the seladang and the Asian elephant (this is also the only forest where all 8 species of Malaysian hornbill are found, birds remarkable for their shape and colours, with a large red beak) – lunch in a restaurant - on arrival at the resort, free time to explore the trails around the hotel or to relax by the pool, enjoying a splendid view of the lake and the sunset – dinner at the resort – after dinner, the chance to join a night trek around the resort -  overnight stay.

Breakfast at the hotel – full day devoted to a guided exploration of the Royal Belum Rainforest - with a little luck you will spot the rafflesia, the parasitic flower considered the largest in nature (it can reach 100 cm in diameter - it takes its name from its discoverer, the Englishman Sir Thomas Raffles, who found it in Indonesia in the early 1800s - it blooms for three to five days before quickly wilting, turning ever darker until it is completely black and looks as if it has been burnt) - excursion to Kejar Hill to visit an Orang Asli village (home of the aboriginal people), followed by a short trek to the Salt Lick and to Jenut Papan – packed lunch beside the waterfall – return to the resort – rest of the afternoon free to explore the trails around the hotel or to relax by the pool - dinner at the resort - evening at leisure - tour leader available - overnight stay.

Breakfast at the hotel – departure for George Town, on Penang Island (journey time approximately 3.5 hours) – we will cross one of the longest bridges in South-East Asia, at 13.5 km – the city of George Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the capital of Penang Island and Malaysia’s second most important port – lunch in a restaurant – in the afternoon, guided tour of George Town by rickshaw (the colonial-style Anglican church of St George, the Goddess of Mercy Temple, an important Chinese Taoist temple, the Joss Stick Maker, Little India with its Sri Mahamariamman Temple, the Kapitan Kling Mosque, the modern murals that tell the city’s social history and Khoo Kongsi, the Chinese clan house) - dinner at the hotel/restaurant - after dinner, George Town by night: a stroll with the tour leader around Love Lane – overnight stay.

Breakfast at the hotel – full day devoted to a guided tour of Penang Island  (the Kek Lok Si temple in the centre of Penang, the largest Buddhist temple in all Malaysia, a photo stop in a typical Malay village, the small town of Balik Pulau with street art in its lanes, and a visit to the legendary Snake Temple, where pit vipers adorn the altars) – at the end of the tour, return to George Town and time at leisure for shopping and to soak up the magical atmosphere of this city - lunch in a restaurant - dinner at the hotel - evening at leisure - tour leader available - overnight stay.

Breakfast at the hotel – transfer to the airport - departure on a scheduled flight to Kuala Lumpur -  arrival in the late morning and continue to Malacca (journey time approximately 2 hours) – lunch in a restaurant – in the afternoon, guided tour of Malacca, a UNESCO World Heritage city (the Baba Nyonya Heritage Museum, the famous Jonker Street, Chinatown, Harmony Street with the ancient Cheng Hoon Teng Chinese Temple and the Kampung Kling Mosque, the Porta de Santiago, St Paul’s Church, the Stadthuys in Clock Tower Square - cruise of around 40 minutes on the Melaka River, passing through the old part of the city with its local shops, traditional houses and Kampung Morten, a typical Malay village) – dinner at the hotel/restaurant - evening with the tour leader to sample one of Malaysia’s typical drinks along Jonker Street, in Chinatown, and to soak up the nightlife of this small but wonderfully lively and vibrant city – overnight stay.
