Description
Signature Spain is a complete journey through the cultural, historical and gastronomic gems of Spain, a 10-day itinerary that embraces the country’s most iconic cities as well as lesser-known but equally fascinating places. The journey begins with the vibrant energy of Madrid, where an evocative evening stroll reveals the grandeur of the illuminated city. Toledo, the ancient capital and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, captures the imagination with its imposing Cathedral and its labyrinth of medieval streets. Seville, Córdoba and Granada form the beating heart of Andalusia. From Seville with its Alcázar and majestic Cathedral, to Córdoba with its Mosque-Cathedral, to Granada with the Alhambra, each city offers an unrivalled cultural and historical experience. Along the way, sherry tastings in Córdoba and wines in Bullas allow you to savour the local gastronomic delights, enriched by the region’s culinary traditions. The tour includes lesser-known but equally captivating visits, such as Lorca with its 13th-century Castle and the cruise in Cartagena to admire the city from a unique perspective on the Mediterranean. Murcia, known as the Orchard of Europe, charms with its historic architecture and enchanting gardens, followed by a spiritual visit to Caravaca de la Cruz, rich in history and religious tradition. Albacete and Campo de Criptana offer an immersion in Spanish culture, with the Windmills immortalised by Don Quixote. The tour ends in the monumental capital, Madrid, with the Royal Palace, the Prado Museum and the vibrant Gran Vía, offering a breathtaking cultural and historical experience. Signature Spain promises a complete immersion in authentic, refined Spain, with a perfect blend of culture, history, gastronomy and breathtaking landscapes. With expert guides, comfortable hotels and a balance between guided visits and free time for personal exploration, it is ideal for travellers wishing to discover the best of one of Europe’s most fascinating destinations.
Murcia, the “Huerta de Europa” or “Orchard of Europe”, owes its name to the immense valleys of market gardens and orchards that surround it, making it a green city with a relaxing atmosphere and a genuine, high-quality cuisine. To reach these wonderful cultivated lands you need only walk along a city avenue, the Paseo del Malecón, which links the urban centre to the gardens. Like so many Spanish cities, Murcia has Roman and Moorish origins. It was founded by the Carthaginians on an ancient Roman settlement under the name of Carthago Nova and later conquered by the Arabs, who renamed it Madīna Mursiya. Strolling through its historic centre you will be enchanted by the elegance and refinement of its most interesting monuments, such as the Cathedral and the Bishop’s Palace, whose eclectic mix of styles allows you to admire the most fascinating sculptural decorations of Spanish Baroque, Gothic and Neoclassicism. Wandering along its narrow streets, its avenues and the bridges across the River Segura, you will be immersed in the heart of Murcian life, enlivened above all by the young people who attend its university, one of the most renowned in Europe.
