Description
The Brijuni Islands are a small Croatian archipelago in the Adriatic Sea, made up of fourteen islands covering a total of 8 sq km. The islands have several archaeological and cultural sites: you can visit the archaeological museum, the remains of two Roman villas from the 2nd century AD, the ruins of a Byzantine castle and the 13th-century Church of St Mary, built by the Templars. There are also Bronze Age fortifications testifying to an ancient settlement on the island dating back to the 14th century BC. Alongside rich displays of archaeological finds, exhibitions of natural history and art have been set up near these sites. The archipelago, famous for the natural beauty of its islands, has been the Brijuni National Park since 1983, which includes the islands and the surrounding waters. On the island of Veliki Brijun more than 200 dinosaur footprints have been discovered at four sites: these date from the Cretaceous period, from which the Brijuni Cretaceous Park takes its name. On Veliki Brijun you can observe numerous species of Mediterranean and exotic plants (including many mangroves), as well as a rather varied fauna that includes fallow deer, mouflons, squirrels and hares.

This tour offers an excellent combination of sightseeing and relaxation. Accommodation is in a splendid seafront hotel complex with an adjoining casino. BARI – PESCARA – NAPLES – ROME or other departure point > PORTOROŽ
Departure from your chosen departure point - lunch at leisure at a motorway service area – in the evening, check-in at the hotel in Portorož – dinner and overnight stay.

POSTOJNA CAVES & PORTOROŽ
Breakfast at the hotel – in the morning, guided visit of the Postojna Caves (the most famous caves in the world, formed over millions of years - a maze of 20 km of galleries, passages and stupendous chambers, part of which is covered aboard a little train, at a constant temperature of 10°C) - lunch at leisure – afternoon at leisure to relax in the hotel’s splendid thermal spa - dinner at the hotel - overnight stay.

BRIJUNI ISLANDS
Breakfast at the hotel – full-day guided excursion – transfer to Fažana - departure by ferry for Brijuni - guided visit of the Brijuni Islands National Park, tourist train included - lunch at leisure - return to Fažana and continuation to Portorož – dinner at the hotel - overnight stay.

Breakfast at the hotel – full-day guided excursion to discover the most beautiful places in Istria - visit of Pula (the centre of the Istrian peninsula; panoramic tour of the city with the Roman amphitheatre, the city’s symbol), Rovinj (a small town, the “pearl of Istria”, which has enchanted visitors with its beauty for 17 centuries – visit of the historic centre that grew up around the Cathedral of St Euphemia) and Poreč (the famous Euphrasian Basilica with its precious, well-preserved Byzantine mosaics) – lunch at leisure - in the evening, return to the hotel - dinner at the hotel - overnight stay.
