Description
Wonders of America. A journey that captures the essence of the American East Coast, among world-famous icons, historic atmospheres and settings that have shaped the collective imagination. The new “Wonders of the East Prestige” tour takes the traveller on an exclusive itinerary, designed to immerse you in the emblematic cities of the United States and discover a mosaic of cultures, architecture and traditions. It begins in Washington D.C., a capital of monumental elegance, custodian of the nation's political institutions and memory. Its grand avenues, memorials and museums tell a story of ideals and achievements, while Georgetown reveals a more intimate and picturesque face.
In Philadelphia, the “cradle of liberty”, the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall bear witness to the first steps of an independent America, in a lively urban setting full of character. Then it is the turn of New York, “the city that never sleeps”: two full days to explore its symbols – from the Statue of Liberty to Ground Zero, from the Empire State Building to Central Park – and to discover the soul of its neighbourhoods, from cultural Harlem to bustling Midtown.
The itinerary continues to Newport, Rhode Island, and opens onto the coastal charm of New England: historic mansions, panoramic cliffs and an atmosphere suspended between past and present. The grand finale is Boston, a cultured and dynamic city, where the Freedom Trail leads through the places that made history and Cambridge is home to two legendary universities: Harvard and MIT. An intense and varied programme, made even more comfortable by the “small group” formula and carefully chosen services, with superior-category hotels, admission fees included and numerous evening excursions to experience the cities under the lights of the night as well.
The elegance of New England. Within the “Wonders of the East Prestige” tour, the stop in Newport is like opening a window suspended in time. Set in the heart of Rhode Island, this coastal town offers an immersion in the refined charm of New England, where the sea intertwines with the history and architecture of the Gilded Age. The streets of Newport lead to a unique heritage of historic residences, grand summer homes that speak of an era of opulence, hospitality and high society. Mansions such as The Breakers and Marble House, surrounded by manicured gardens and overlooking the ocean, evoke the elegance of the American elite of the late nineteenth century. The famous Cliff Walk, a scenic path hugging the Atlantic, offers spectacular views in which the cliffs and the blue of the sea frame these imposing buildings. But Newport is not only history and mansions: its picturesque harbour, its streets dotted with boutiques and restaurants, and the sea air you breathe strolling along the piers make up a lively and authentic portrait. Here the pace slows and the journey becomes contemplation, in a setting that combines the natural beauty of the ocean with attention to detail, leaving an intense memory quite different from the great metropolises that punctuate the itinerary. For those who love discovering lesser-known sides of the United States, Newport is proof that the East Coast is not only skylines and museums: it is also a mosaic of elegance, seafaring traditions and landscapes that speak to the heart.
