Description
Namibia is a country that offers an incredible and exciting cross-section of life, with its great variety of landscapes and cultures.
The gateway is the capital, Windhoek, whose colonial architecture shows a clear German influence. From this singular city we move straight into the wild heart of Namibia, the fascinating Kalahari Desert, where a first jeep activity lets us admire the colourful flora and fauna of this extraordinary natural environment. The Namib Desert is also home to the Bushmen, an extraordinary indigenous tribe that for centuries has kept its heritage of evocative ancestral traditions intact. Thanks to their presence, it will be possible to understand all the secrets of an ecosystem that is in some ways extreme, with which man has learned to coexist and through which a fascinating culture has developed.
One of the most incredible and exciting stops is Sesriem-Sossusvlei, where the stars of the show are the iconic tall, fiery red dunes, capable of creating a landscape of rare beauty: veritable mountains of red sand that carve out untouched corners and spectacular viewpoints, a paradise for photographers. On a route through the Namib Desert, the traveller watches groups of gazelles, oryx, Hartmann’s mountain zebras and ostriches file past.
An extraordinary hot-air balloon experience, before arriving in Swakopmund, allows you to look down over these vast expanses from above. And then the gaze wanders among the mountains that divide the beaches from the interior, with flora and fauna the absolute, undisputed rulers at these latitudes.
Namibia is an excellent choice for a first trip to Africa: a magnificent destination in which to begin exploring this magnificent continent. Very few African countries can compete with the natural beauty that Namibia boasts.
Sossusvlei: its dunes are one of the most iconic natural wonders of Namibia and of the entire African continent.
Located in the Namib Desert, these dunes are among the highest in the world and offer an astonishing spectacle of colours and shapes. The Sossusvlei dunes are famous for their intense red colour, which becomes particularly vivid at dawn and sunset, when the sunlight accentuates the warm tones of the sand. The highest dune, known as Dune 45, reaches a height of around 170 metres and offers a spectacular view over the vast surrounding desert expanse.
One of the most fascinating features of Sossusvlei is the presence of vleis, white clay pans that form at the foot of the dunes during the rare rainfall events. These pans create an extraordinary contrast with the red of the dunes and often reflect the sky, creating an incredible scene. Visitors to Sossusvlei have the opportunity to climb the dunes and enjoy the breathtaking view from the top, as well as exploring the vleis and admiring the flora and fauna adapted to life in the desert. Sossusvlei is an unmissable destination for lovers of nature and wild places, offering a unique and unforgettable experience in the heart of the Namib Desert.
